Year 5 travel through time

Year 5 have been taking sentence stems and key vocabulary, in order to write their time traveller’s guide to the 1940’s.

Mr Moore provided the class with some wonderful examples of the kinds of things they would need to consider….no mobile devices…why? How would you need to dress? Would your language need to be modified?

Let’s see what they came up with……maybe they will share some of this in their class assembly?!

Nursery love to cook

Mr Haldane has had a wonderful time working with the children in Nursery, making pancakes.
I had the privilege of watching them take turns, learn new vocabulary and help clear away.

In between, there was the great excitement of waiting for the pancakes to cook and then watching Mr Haldane flip them. He did well!

Of course, the most enjoyable part, was tasting them….scrumptious!

Year 1 Grace Darling

Year 1 have done some really exciting work about Grace Darling.
The children have been asking questions about who she was and why she was famous.
They have really enjoyed the start of the topic.

I was really delighted to have seen some excellent photos that Mrs Cattrall has done with the Year 1 children, which I am sure you will see soon!

Working walls

Our Classrooms are inspiring places to learn, with working walls forming a main part of how the children use their work as prompts, whilst also celebrating their achievements.
Mrs Johnston uses her working wall as an integral part of the lessons. This is in Year 5.

Roald Dahl Week

Mrs Whiteley has been getting creative in the Library this week, in preparation for celebrating the 30 birthday of the BFG.
Can you believe that that story is 30 years old?!
Roald Dahl is a favourite author of so many adults and children alike.

The children will all be engaged in learning opportunities to do with Roald Dahl, every afternoon next week.
Don’t forget to ask them what they have been doing!

Wonderful to be back

We have enjoyed a really wonderful start to the new academic year.
I feel so privileged to have such a dedicated and hard working staff.
I have been in four lessons this week, where I had the opportunity to watch the children learn and see how the skilled teachers hooked them in to their learning.

So….we truly are all wonderfully made!

Success in writing

Today I had my first official ‘good work’ visit. Harley was out of breathe, from running to show me his writing. He was articulate in explaining what he had to do and why he had been sent to me.
Harley used alliteration whilst adding some more detail to his plain sentence.

Well done!
