As a member of Leeds Learning Alliance, being part of this collaborative partnership offers many opportunities to meet, discuss and work collaboratively to meet the challenge and need of our City.
“We serve the city of Leeds and its communities. We have the highest levels of ambition for every learner in the communities that we serve (not just those that learn with us now). We believe those ambitions will be achieved by using our resources generously, ethically and equitably, by working cooperatively, promoting excellence, social justice, creativity, opportunity, peace and cohesion.”
Leeds Learning Alliance – Inclusive | Collaborative | Ambitious
Mrs Curtis and I attended one of the Leeds Learning Alliances breakfast meetings on Friday 3rd October, with really challenging and thought provoking speakers.
Ash was the founder of one of the most inspirational places in the city- called CATCH, www.catchleeds.org Community Action to Create Hope.
CATCH is a thriving community hub in the heart of Harehills which is 97% volunteer led; with 75% of those volunteers being under 18. An inspirational yet transformative place, born out of real challenge and community need.
They have 6 core stages in their work with young people to create hope:
Plant seeds of hope
Nurture growth
Blossom opportunities
Root resilience
Harvest hope
Reseed hope
Whilst our communities may be very different, this vision really resonates with what we do here at ACE and also what our vision is for the establishment and development of Room 17.
Building a community of young people who have a voice, have a vision and want to make a difference to community and society is so important and I know that this is the start of something exciting for us.
Ambitious hope
