Free School Meal Hampers/Lunches clarification

We use the Leeds Catering Agency, to provide our school dinners. Since we have been closed, the Catering Agency have been working hard to provide those children eligible for Free School Meals, with a packed lunch each day.

This changed to a hamper, so that you only need to pick up on a Monday.

We have had some of you coming into school asking to collect the food boxes which we are giving out.
Unfortunately, these are ONLY for children who are entitled to Free School Meals.
IF you, the parent, are on;

  • Income Support, or
  • income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance, or
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance, or
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit, with an income of less than £7,400 a year
  • support under part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, or
  • Child Tax Credit, if you have an annual taxable income (as assessed by H M Revenue and Customs) which does not exceed £16,190

This will be something that you already  have in place through one of these benefits.

We have a list in school of all families who are eligible for Free School Meals and we can only give the boxes to these people.
For the past couple of years in England, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been given a meal in school which you do not pay for. This is referred to, by the Government, as Universal Free School Meals. So we can see the confusion! Food is not being provided for these children.
If you are not sure whether you are on our list, please email office@allertonceprimary.com and we can check, rather than you having a wasted journey coming to school.

Please don’t listen to rumours. Keep checking the website as we will update on there if there are any changes.

Making Photograph Frames

Last week we enjoyed making our own photograph frame. After creating the frame, we designed it for someone close to us with a picture of ourselves inside and then had the challenge of designing a stand. Some of us thought we could send it to a relative who we may not see for a while.

Wednesday photos

Week 1 and it’s Wednesday so here are some photos of what we have been up to so far.

Near the end of the day Mr Moore and Ms Hall took a group on an adventure looking for treasure and they found it! There was a very cute fox cub tangled in the football nets. Mr Moore and Ms Hall rescued the cub but not without incident, Mr Moore was bitten! The children went home with big smiles and great news.

When Mr Moore got home Elvis just laughed when he showed him his cut!

If you took home peas and potatoes, make sure you plant them to grow some more!

Wed 25th March In school news

Today has been even quieter with less than a class full children in school but they have been working hard and having fun…making the most of the sunny day.

Jermaine and Mr Moore were busy with sports and outdoor learning. The children have discovered tadpoles in the mud puddles and mosaic tiles on the field. They also have a pea and a potato to take home and grow. Jermaine even cut the grass in his dinner hour!

At the end of the day Mr Moore and Miss Hall untangled a very cute fox cub from the football nets, and Mr Moore was bitten! He said that Elvis was not sympathetic, when he got home!

I’m sure the children will tell you all about it. Huge thanks to all the staff that are in school working; doing an incredible job. All the staff working at home and connecting via Google Classrooms too. Mr Moore says that the comments, enthusiasm and engagement has been incredible! Keep going!

Don’t forget to collect your Free School Meal packed lunch and contact office@allertonceprimary.com if you have any questions or queries.
